FamousVeggie.com's Celebrity Interview with Dilbert Creator Scott Adams
Q. What type of vegetarian are you?(vegan, lacto, lacto ovo, etc.)
A.I eat dairy products but avoid eggs when I can.
Q. At what age did you make the decision to go vegetarian?
A.Early thirties.
Q. What was your reason for going vegetarian?
A. I was inspired by a particularly bad plate of chicken chow mein. I just decided to try being vegetarian for awhile and see if I like it. I
continued because I feel better (fewer stomach aches, clearer head) and because I'll live longer this way.
Q. What(if anything) do you find hard about being vegetarian?
A. It's only hard when I travel outside California. In Iowa, for example,
even the salad has meat on it.
Q. Do you find that you feel better or worse since going vegetarian?
A. Much better.
Q. What about animal rights do you have any thoughts on that?
A.In a perfect world, all animals would be treated with kindness. But in
a world with six billion unkind people, results will be less than optimal. It's not a fight I think can be won.
Q. Is anyone else in your family or circle of friends vegetarian?
A. Some friends are.
Q. What are some dumb things you hear from non-vegetarians?
A.How do you get enough protein? (I ask them how many people they know
who have been hospitalized for lack of protein.)
Q. Tell us about Dilberito.
A. It's a product I created with a partner, Jack Parker, under the Scott
Adams Foods label. It's vegetarian (two flavor are vegan), in a burrito form.
They are frozen, microwaveable meals with 100% of the daily values
of vitamins and minerals. They come in four flavors: Mexican, Garlic &
Herb, Barbecue and Indian. See http://www.dilberito.com for
availability and other info.
Q. My favorite Dilbert character is Dogbert, Do you have any real life
dogberts?
A. I have two Catberts. Dogberts are high maintenance.
Q. Do you plan on doing anymore comic strips talking about
vegetarianism?
A. No plans, but it will probably come up again.
Q. What happened to the Dilbert show on Upn? I heard it's on hiatus.
A. It's on hiatus, which is the nice way to say cancelled.
Q. Do you know any other famous vegetarians?
A. Not personally.
Q. What are some of your favorite things to eat?
A. I'm crazy about rice and broccoli and pasta.
Q. What would you like to tell Scott Adams and Dilbert fans
about going Vegetarian?
A. I don't give advice, just information. If you think meat is essential
and beneficial to your diet, do some more studying on the subject.
Q. Have any last thoughts or words of wisdom?
A. Try a Dilberito and tell me what you think.
